UAE Tour 2021 highlights: Panic in the peloton on Stage 7!

This was a hugely eventful Stage 7 of the UAE Tour to round off the 2021 edition of the race!
A split in the bunch almost saw a repeat of the echelon chaos that made Stage 1 so entertaining, before a crash involving GC contender Adam Yates produced another twist.
The day climaxed with the expected bunch sprint finish, as Caleb Ewan and Sam Bennett went head-to-head on the final stage. This is one not to miss!

A tour without mountains is just ridiculous. Hundrets of km flat and at the end the best sprinter wins.

I didn't like that the peloton waited for Adam Yates I know that pro cycling is fixed but I prefer it if I can maintain plausible deniability while watching. Moments like that make that impossible

Caleb Ewan is an absolute beast!!!

The commentary is completely uninspired. Dear commentator, if you don't like cycling and the race doesn't interest you at all, just find something else to do. This is horrible for everybody and it's been going on for far too long.

The guy is perfectly fine, you're just used to screaming, overexcited idiots thinking they are the norm (I'm guessing you're an F1 fan maybe?). Take some enhancers before watching youtube, if you want excitement?

Gotta stop the stupid masks! How ridiculous!

0:05+ At least 3 riders jumped the starting flag, not practical to restart race like in Olympics, they should have been instantly DISQUALIFIED :(
Slahudeen Hussain
Mese fa
It's not like they gained an advantage, the race didn't offically start untill like 10km after they departed, man you must be a newbie to cycling

Does Pogacar use rim brake?

Poor commentating again. Some of us want to know the winner at the line not 300 meters before. D grade commentating again.

If this were soccer they'd be on the floor flopping around the entire race :)

Yates and I think the other guy was amador

Rider in blue drops sth at 0:55 and in replay at 1:11, and that caused the crash! Just have a look on the wheels of the riders behind!

1:13, moment of the face plant. Terrible, literally right on his chin.. Grieipel still in the fight at 6th. What longevity

@Brent Perez ya, if I fell like that, I'd consider call 911, and be off for a month.

Adam Yates is one tough cookie. If that would have happened to me, I don’t see how I would have remounted and continued the race. Mad respect. He’s a credit to the sport.
Dana Black

Told yall Tadej Pogačar was going to 🏆
Dana Black
Mese fa
@Slahudeen Hussain yea I know lol
Slahudeen Hussain
Mese fa
I mean he was the favourite and he was the tdf champion last year so it was kinda obvious but tbf He won it mostly because of the ITT not the actual mountain stages

Tadej Pogacar! That kid has a lot more awards to win! He's just starting.

@jalahetuvyatkavyakti Don’t think the field is doping. Many controls have been in place to put the dirty past in the rear view mirror. I don’t think it’s perfect. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out a rider on a team with links the past problems is doping. However, I would be surprised to find that doping is systemic, as it once was.
Brent Perez
Mese fa
Not fair to Pogacar to have his accomplishments diminished by unfounded speculation. I’m sure with the resumption of drug testing in the peloton, if he is doping we will soon find out. If he somehow, doesn’t win anymore in the coming years, I guess we can speculate about his 2020 results. It’s not fair, but the sport has such a dirty history. True fans have to view results with eyes wide open. We also, have to recognize that the sport is not what it once was in the Lance years. I think the peloton is by and large clean. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to finding a few riders have gamed the system.

@Firsthgyhgyhuy Lastujhujhuj doped ? Haven't heard about drug testing ? Since the issue of lance about his doping, they implemented that rule.
jalahetuvyatkavyakti

@Firsthgyhgyhuy Lastujhujhuj doping in a field of dopers, it's just fair play at this point

i must have missed it, but how did yates go from being 45 seconds down yesterday to only 35 seconds down today? is it a typo?

thank you!

Pogacar and teammate Polanc both got a 10 sec penalty for "pushing another rider" in Stage 6.

might as well put a picture of the stage winner as the thumbnail and his name in the title if we are going to commentate the final sprint like this again.

Mese fa
The lotto train always lose it in the final kilometre, I sure hope they get it sorted because Ewan deserves a better leadout.
Marco Brotto
Mese fa
Quickstep and Morkov are overpowered...it’s gotten to a point that any sprinter in that team wins. Morkov the real mvp
Slahudeen Hussain
Mese fa
I'd love to see what Ewan could do in quick step , he has the ability to basically win every sprint stage he competes in.

Interesting how whole race took almost exactly 24hrs.
Lionel Legoff

For us it is exactly 48 hours 😄

No shit

Mese fa
Mørkøv decided to keep pedalling to the line this time. I wonder how many top results he could have achieved in his career if he hadn’t sacrificed himself for other riders in hundreds of sprints.
jatojo
Mese fa
@Slahudeen Hussain Yes. :) But maybe his leadout wasn't the best. In a situation like that, Mørkøv only has the third best leadout man to his disposal, as Bennett is out, and Mørkøv is the team's best leadout man himself.
Slahudeen Hussain
Mese fa
Stage 1 of this tour he got beaten by the likes of van der poel and dekker when he was the sprinter because bennett got dropped in the crosswinds , but he did beat viviani amongst others.
Brian Mitchell
Mese fa
Totally. Bennet has been blessed with having the only lead out man in the last 200m, dropping him off for all these wins. But Bennet is a beast. If anyone hasn’t watched the Hammer Series it’s worth it. Crushes everyone
Paul Solon

Clueless comment, Ewan did that cuz his team fucked up in the last KM.

Aren't all sprinters wheelsuckers to some degree?

Mese fa
i believe had not been for covid protocols, van der poel would've bagged this
Slahudeen Hussain
Mese fa
@Jaspreet Sidhu Are you talking about the GC or the stage? Cuz they're both deluded, he would've lost to Ewan and Bennett in the stage ( they are the 2 best sprinters in the world right now imo) , and if you're on about GC then read my other comment.
Slahudeen Hussain
Mese fa
No I think he would've lost a minute or so to pog on stage 3 and would've lost some time on the ITT to him too, for me it would be Pogacar,Yates and MVDP in 3rd
joao matos
Mese fa
Clueless comment.
Jaspreet Sidhu
Mese fa
Same boat MVDP would have taken it by far.
Marko Podganjek
Mese fa
Yeah, but of course, with at least 7 minutes advantage at all. After first day we can claim that. omg
